Over the past year, we've been dedicated to refining and enhancing our offerings to better cater to your evolving needs. One of the biggest changes to our offerings has been the packaging of our services to allow for clients to choose the level of support & guidance that is right for them. When you get your new proposal, you will notice a few different packages for the services to be provided. There will be a video review of each proposal option that outlines the specifics of what is included in each package, but basically the core services will stay the same with varying degrees of support, planning, and advisory offered.

Here's how we've been working hard to maximize the value you receive from your partnership with
Bright Line CPA:

Automated Processes:

We've spent a significant amount of time working on our client-facing processes to minimize the number of unnecessary meetings in your calendar, allowing you to spend less time on admin and focus more on running your business. These improvements include:

  • Interactive checklists sent through Karbon – these create easy to follow lists of information that you can interact with directly to provide comments or upload documents. Karbon will automatically remind you of any o/s tasks at regular intervals, so nothing falls through the cracks.

  • Transaction dashboards through Uncat – for our accounting clients, instead of reviewing a spreadsheet of unknown transactions months after they’ve happened, we have been implementing Uncat to automatically prompt you to provide input on transactions we aren’t sure about. Each week you will get a text or email that takes you to your dashboard where you can make quick notes or upload files to specific transactions. You do not need to create a login to access Uncat – just click the link in the email/text and it will take you right there!

  • Video reviews of financial reports & tax returns – for our Centre Line & Bright Line customers, we will be providing regular financial reports with customized video reviews. We have also started to use video reviews for personal & corporate returns too! These video reviews will provide important insights and context to your tax returns or financial reports and will allow for easy sharing of our insights with your significant others, business partners, or key employees. If your package includes meetings to review financial reports, these meetings will become more productive since you will have time to digest the financial information and develop a list of questions in advance of the meeting.

Improved Communication & Support:

Our dedicated team has been working to implement the following changes that will result in timely and effective communication and support for our clients:

  • Updates to the Bright Line website to assist you with using the Karbon client portal & answering common questions that we typically receive from clients. These updates are available for you to reference now, and we are planning to add more useful updates & resources over the coming months.

  • A detailed client guide that will provide information about our processes and timelines for the services that we provide to you. This will also be condensed and included as a process page on the Bright Line website. We are hoping to publish this information later in the fall of 2023.

  • We are in the process of hiring additional team members, specifically senior accountants and virtual assistants, to increase our bandwidth for replying to your communications & answering your accounting & tax questions. If you know of anyone who might be suited to these positions, please let us know!

Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

We're committed to a culture of continuous improvement & innovation. Your feedback fuels our efforts to enhance our offerings, ensuring that we consistently meet and exceed your expectations. To further improve the service that we are providing, we will be sending out simple client surveys after each completed project to learn more about your experience. We will be reviewing these responses and using them to make actionable changes to how we serve our clients. We also want to focus our time spent with you on the conversations that add the most value to your relationship with us, so in addition to the changes noted above we are also investing in AI tools to assist with many administrative tasks. For example:

  • Recorded virtual meetings that are automatically transcribed, with a copy of the transcript and any action items sent automatically to all meeting participants. We are also working on an AI tool that will allow you to chat with your meeting transcripts to better understand what we’ve discussed.

  • An AI chatbot integrated with the Bright Line website that allows you to ask questions and look up information about our client portal, our client-facing processes, contacts within the firm, etc. This will be a helpful tool for quick questions that don’t specifically need to be answered by a Bright Line team member.

  • A virtual bookkeeping assistant that can provide answers to your QuickBooks questions about recording transactions and generating reports. Our plan is for this tool to supplement the accounting services & support provided by our cloud accounting team, getting you faster responses to your QuickBooks questions!

Retainer

Finally, one other change to our pricing model this year is a 25% retainer upon signing your proposal (does not apply to bookkeeping clients or those who pay via monthly recurring fees). We believe that this change will bring even greater value to our relationship, allowing us to allocate dedicated resources to your account from the onset and will enable us to provide you with timely and dedicated attention as we work together to file your tax return and provide you with valuable tax planning services.
